Sinatra Sings Great Songs From Great Britain

By Mahnuel Muñoz

On June 12, 1962, Frank Sinatra began recording the album “Sinatra Sings Great Songs From Great Britain.

The starting premise is simple: songs written by British composers; but, to be honest, one of the songs, “Now Is The Hour“, is the work of a New Zealander.

The album is recorded at the CTS studios in London and the arrangements are by the prestigious British arranger Robert Farnon. Even though Frank Sinatra’s voice is not at its best (the singer is completing an extensive and exhausting world tour at that time), the album does not disappoint and in fact offers us unforgettable moments such as “The Very Thought Of You“, “London By Night” “A Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square” or “A Garden In The Rain

In 2014 Universal released an essential box set with three CDs and a DVD titled “Sinatra London“, which includes the complete album, extensive fragments of the recording sessions, a program broadcast on British radio in October 1962 to promote the LP with commentary. by Frank himself) and several concerts held on British soil in different years.
