SINATRA AND SAMMY DAVIS IN THE AD THAT EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT
On Tuesday, December 10, a new advertisement for Still GIN By Dre and Snoop gin was released, in which rappers Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg meet Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr. The cinematic-style advertisement brings together the iconic musicals through artificial intelligence technology and has been shown during the final of NBC’s “The Voice” competition, in which Snoop acts as a vocal coach.
The ad begins with Dre and Snoop dressed in tuxedos strolling through a fancy nightclub while guests look on. Sinatra and Davis see the newcomers on the other side of the club and approach.
They talk for a few moments and Davis asks
“And what do you want? What are you drinking?” to which Snoop replies, “Gin,” and Dre adds, “Still GIN.”
“Alright. “Still GIN for everyone!” says Sinatra to a cheering crowd.
The ad also features a cameo by actress and model Lori Harvey, and ends with the four musicians sitting around a table toasting their drinks.
The gin brand, which launched in February and is co-owned by Dre and Snoop, joined forces with its creative agency, Rosewood Creative, acclaimed music video director Dave Meyers and generative artificial intelligence company Metaphysic to create the innovative ad.
“The result is a hypothetical encounter that cinematically connects past, present and future generations of superstars,” the statement states.
The team also worked closely with the estates of Sinatra and Davis to ensure a faithful representation of the deceased stars.
“Seeing Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg alongside my father and Sammy Davis Jr. in such a revolutionary way is both exciting and surreal,” Sinatra’s daughter Tina Sinatra told People magazine. “It is a celebration of timeless art, the breaking of barriers and the enduring legacy of collaboration between generations.” It is quite a compliment, coming from a person who manages with great severity everything related to his father’s legacy and image.
The result of the advertisement is quite good. And the debate is served. We will not be able to prevent the great stars of the past from returning in increasingly perfect artificial versions and allowing us to see and hear them in new creations. Perhaps if the works in which these recreations are involved are coherent with the legacy they built in life it could be an interesting contribution – the biopics would take on a new dimension – but on the other hand, the human factor that makes art is lost. the dynamic force that it is.
But the most valuable thing about the announcement is the confirmation of how alive Sinatra remains in the memory and heart of the world.
