HALLELUJAH I LOVE HER SO
By Antonio Baile
There are songs performed by Frank Sinatra that, like the first time in everything that is satisfactory, start nodding, arm movements, smiles and even, when alone, dancing down the hallway.
“Hallelujah, I Love Her So” was composed by Ray Charles in 1956 and I probably would have had to hear it before hearing Frank to appreciate the change in reverse of how it occurred.
I heard this interpretation of Sinatra on the “My way” album and, in that wonderful childhood or adolescence, I don’t remember well, I must have exclaimed something similar to “wow!“
Here The Voice becomes an instrument and complements the music, caressing with all the art of music in a single song: swing, jazz, a light touch of samba, Tin Pan Alley and… The Voice, that eternal Voice, the Voice that always it dazzles us.
The scene of Salieri letting the sheets fall with new Mozart compositions to the ground after admiring the melody they gave off…, That!, that scene has filled me with pleasure on many occasions in which I have discovered a version of Sinatra that It renewed the dream of listening to it indefinitely over time.
This was one of those songs that they dropped on the floor, not Mozart’s compositions, but whatever they had in their hands. I remember that they did make me smile, nod my head, move my arms conducting a fictitious orchestra and dance down the hallway.
The anecdotal thing about writing these confessions is that, while I write, other topics continue to play in the background with which the same thing happened to me.
That’s the thing about loving Sinatra’s Voice: No performance is more exceptional than the most exceptional of the remaining songs.
Do you realize how lucky we are to be able to be happy all the time we have left with just a stereo and some Frank records, those that we NEVER get tired of listening to and that ALWAYS fill us with satisfaction?
