1915- On December 12, Francis Albert Sinatra is born, the only child of the marriage formed by Antonino Martino Sinatra and Natalina Garavente in Hoboken, New Jersey.
1935- As part of the group The Hoboken Four, he wins first prize in the famous “Major Bowes Original Amateur Hour” contest.
1939- He married Nancy Barbato and began working with the Harry James Orchestra.
1940- Joins Tommy Dorsey’s orchestra and has his first daughter, Nancy Sandra.
1941- Appears in his first film, “Las Vegas Nights”, although it is a simple cameo in which he sings with Tommy Dorsey’s orchestra
1942-He made his first recordings as a soloist with arrangements by Axel Stordahl and left Tommy Dorsey’s orchestra. His appearance at the Paramount theater causes a shock in the audience.
1943-First recording sessions at Columbia Records and first film in with a role, “Higher And Higher”
1944-His second child, Franklin Wayne Emmanuel, is born. He moves with his family to California. His October 12 concert sparks the legendary Columbus Day riots.
1945-Frank Sinatra meets Ava Gardner. “Anchors Aweigh” is released, his first film with Gene Kelly
1946-Releases his first full-length album, “The Voice Of Frank Sinatra” and wins an Oscar for his short film “The House I Live In”
1948-His last daughter, Christina, is born
1949-His romantic relationship with Ava Gardner begins.
1950-Frank debuts on television, but loses his contract with Metro Goldwyn Mayer.
His wife Nancy publicly announces her separation after learning of her husband’s love affair with Ava Gardner. Overwork and his troubled personal life take their toll on him with a hemorrhage on his vocal cords.
1951-Frank and Nancy divorce and the singer marries Ava. Distraught by his strong personal and professional crisis, he attempts suicide with an overdose of sleeping pills. A few days later he debuts at the Desert Inn in Las Vegas.
1952 Columbia Records and the MCA management agency decide not to renew their contract with Frank Sinatra.
